After having been gone for 8 months, I am finally flying back to Cambodia on the 20th of February. There is a lot to do! Thanks to a generous donation and financial support from the Batulong Foundation, we can begin the second stage of building in Bech Khlok. The families and teachers of Bech Khlok are very excited that their school will be finished soon and are hoping for a great opening ceremony :) However first 2-3 months of hard work lie before us, and at the moment it is especially difficult to reach the village. The path is very muddy for this time of year, which makes the transport of building materials hard. I am not looking forward to the long, tiring and dangerous trips on the moped to Bech Khlok. It is time that we start to look for a smaller second-hand off-road vehicle. An old army jeep would be perfect for our conditions, but is unfortunately hard to come by and expensive. Our financial status limits us and therefore we are looking for a sponsor or a group-sponsor. In return we offer advertisement space on the vehicle as well as effective ad photos from our work in Bech Khlok. Please contact us, in case of interest in the sponsor project.

And now for the Seed News from the past two months. DrinkPure, a spin-off company of ETH, donated 40 water filters for the families and children in Bech Khlok. The small filters can be put onto any normal PET-bottle and are a good solution until we can begin the bigger ETH water filter program. Thanks to DrinkPure we can give clean drinking water to the kids most at risk. The installation of a large filter for the community will take another couple months.
In February, six ‘Seedlings’ (Florian Pahler Kim-Desiree Knorr, Sandra Fleckenstein, Tanja Flören, Stefan Wolf and I) met up in München, to establish the german branch of Seed. Now we aren’t only represented in Switzerland, but also in Germany. As you can see in the following photos, it was a work filled but also fun weekend. I am proud of our team in Germany!
Now I am excited for Cambodia and to work with Kim and the rest of our team over there. I will write again soon from the hot countryside of Bech Khlok. Andrea
Spatenstich zum Zweiten!
Bis es soweit ist, stehen uns aber noch 2-3 Monate harte Arbeit bevor. Besonders schwierig ist im Moment die Zufahrt zum Dorf. Die Wege sind für diese Jahreszeit viel zu schlammig, was den Transport der Baumaterialien sehr erschwert. Mir graut jetzt schon vor der gefährlichen Fahrt mit dem Mofa durch den Schlamm nach Bech Khlok. Es wird Zeit, dass wir uns nach einem kleineren seco Nach über 8-monatiger Abwesenheit, fliege ich am 20. Februar endlich wieder nach Kambodscha. Es gibt viel zu tun! Dank einer sehr großzügigen Einzelspende und finanzieller Unterstützung der Batulong Stiftung, können wir die zweite Bauetappe in Bech Khlok in Angriff nehmen. Die Familien und Lehrer von Bech Khlok freuen sich sehr, dass ihre Schule bald fertig gebaut ist und hoffen auf ein tolles Einweihungsfest.nd-hand Geländewagen umsehen. Ein alter US Armee-Jeep wäre perfekt für unsere Bedürfnisse, aber leider schwer erhältlich und teuer, da sehr beliebt. Unsere finanziellen Mittel schränken unsere Auswahl wesentlich ein und wir sind deshalb auf der Suche nach einem Sponsor oder einer Sponsoren-Gruppe. Als Gegenleistung bieten wir Werbefläche auf dem Geländewagen und werbewirksame Fotos von unserem Einsatz in Bech Khlok. Bitte meldet euch, falls ihr Interesse an diesem Sponsoren-Projekt habt.

DrinkPure, ein Spin-off Unternehmen der ETH, spendete 40 Wasserfilter für Familien mit Kleinkindern in Bech Khlok. Die kleinen Filter können auf jede handelsübliche PET-Flasche geschraubt werden und sind eine gute Lösung, bis wir mit dem grossen ETH-Filterprojekt starten können. Dank Und nun noch zu den Seed News der vergangenen zwei Monate.DrinkPure können nun die besonders gefährdeten Kleinkinder, sauberes Wasser trinken. Die Installation eines grossen Filters für die Gemeinde, wird sich noch um ein paar Monate verzögern.

Im Februar trafen sich sechs “Seedlinge” (Florian Pahler Kim-Desiree Knorr, Sandra Fleckenstein, Tanja Flören, Stefan Wolf und ich) in München, um den deutschen Verein von Seed zu gründen. Nun sind wir nicht nur in der Schweiz, sondern auch in Deutschland vertreten. Wie ihr auf den folgenden Fotos sieht, war es ein arbeitsreiches, aber auch spassvolles Wochenende.
